The Dog In The Lane has a long interesting history, and the site goes back even further than Shirley can remember.

The original building as a Public House / Meeting place originates in the 17th Century but the site has historical connections back as far as the 7th Century, please check out our King Arthur page which details historically how the Dog In The Lane site was a meeting place for King Arthur and his followers

Also check out the Ghosts page which gives details about the two ghosts who live at the Dog In The Lane and can regularly be seen with the aid of a few other spirits.... One of which is linked strongly to the reign of King Arthur and reportedly was killed at the well which is underneath the dining area, and the other from the 18th Century, a large man who regularly walks in front of the log fireplace, usually around 11pm on a Thursday night.....
